Dr. Apple spent fifteen years as a professional ballet dancer in the United States and Europe prior to becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy. She understands the commitment that it takes to function at a high level. She has worked with competitive ice skaters, dancers, distance runners, soccer, baseball, basketball, lacrosse, tennis and football players to help them with a wide range of injuries from labral tears to herniated discs. Each athlete needs to work in their specific genre of movement in order to fully return to their sport. Dr. Apple will spend time analyzing the movement dysfunction as well as retraining the neuro-muscular patterns to assist the athlete in staying on the field, stage or rink without pain. The coordination of proper movement patterns is key for the athlete to be able to move forward into the strengthening phase. During the strengthening phase all three planes of movement must be addressed so that the athlete can function in their three dimensional world of sport. Evidenced based tests will be performed prior to full return to sport in order to decrease the likelihood of re-injury or compensatory injury.
